The Chemnitz Model

The rail system plays an important role in Chemnitz. Not only for historical reasons and still possible to be experienced today at the Schauplatz Eisenbahn (Exhibition Railway), but also through networking by rail, as with the Chemnitz Model.

The well-branched network of railways in and around Chemnitz, together with the city's tram network, directly connects Chemnitz city centre with the region. This means that many places and sights in the surrounding area can be reached easily and quickly and with few barriers.
