Welcome to the City of Sports: Chemnitz

Attention cyclists, mountain bikers, skaters and climbing experts!

Chemnitz is a City of Sports

Fans of boards, skates, BMX and scooters will be happy at Konkordiapark - from beginners to professionals. The popular and well-known skate park also offers a basketball court and a football pitch.

And right next door is the Chemnitz Climbing Centre.

Streetball facilities can also be found in some other parts of the city, because: In Chemnitz, basketball is lived and not just since the Chemnitz NINERS started playing in the first national basketball league.

An insight into the cycling scene of Chemnitz

The Crazy Cyclists

Whether it's cycling a "C" on the German map to transport the application book for the European Capital of Culture from Chemnitz to Berlin, or riding a mountain bike for 24 hours at a stretch on one of the toughest laps in all of Germany, or even everesting in the city's immediate surroundings - the Chemnitz cycling scene is known for seeking out and mastering special, and for some, even crazy-sounding challenges.

As an ambitious hobby cyclist, however, you will find routes in Chemnitz and the surrounding area that are just as beautiful as those for excursions with the whole family.

Climbing is Fun!

More than high up: bouldering, climbing, climbing forest

Bouldering in the industrial ambience of a former factory? Indoor climbing with a view of the skate park? Or at dizzy heights in the Rabenstein climbing forest, where you can refresh yourself in the reservoir lake right next door?

Whether it's an after-work activity after a long conference or a relaxed family outing at the weekend - all three locations offer fun and exercise for young and old.

Active through the Winter: Chemnitz Ice Sports Centre

Ice rink, speed skating rink and events

You're guaranteed to work up a sweat here in the cold season: Go ice skating on the 400 m outdoor speed skating rink or do laps in the indoor ice rink for a disco on ice. Or would you rather cheer on the local Chemnitz Crashers ice hockey team at a home game?

In any case, the area is ideally suited for achieving top sporting performances, as figure skating legend Katarina Witt and pairs skaters Aljona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy have already trained here.
