Big mountain parade on 29.11.2025: 900 participants in uniform, music & tradition - Chemnitz celebrates the festive start to the Christmas season !
On November 29, 2025, Chemnitz will once again be celebrating: "Glück auf! The miner is coming!" - because the Great Mining Parade, one of the most impressive traditions of the Ore Mountains, will parade through the city center.
More than 900 participants - including those wearing uniforms, mountain musicians and mountain singers - present a living piece of Saxon history. The parade starts at 2 pm at Theaterplatz and leads via Richard-Tauber-Straße, Straße der Nationen and Brückenstraße back to the starting point.
There, visitors can expect a festive closing ceremony with music, choir singing and a welcome address from the Lord Mayor from 3 pm. The mountain parade is not only a highlight of the Chemnitz Christmas market, but also a moving start to the Erzgebirge Christmas.
